The present invention relates to a protein associated with stress resistance, a gene encoding the same, a method of imparting stress resistance to a plant using the gene, and a plant constructed by the method. The invention provides a protein, which is involved in the deposition of callose (1→3 β glucan) and has an amino acid sequence showing a homology of at least 90% to SEQ ID NO: 1. Also, it provides a gene encoding the protein, a plant in which the gene was inhibited, and a transformed plant in which the gene was over expressed. According to the invention, it is possible to produce a plant having reduced callose deposition and improved stress resistance by inhibiting the expression of an OsCIPK gene. Also, it is possible to improve the stress resistance of plants by inducing the mutation of OsCIPK through various mutagens. |
