abstract An image processing system includes an imaging element, an acquisition unit for acquiring information indicating the position of a defective pixel caused in the imaging element, a creation unit for creating an identifier indicating the position of the defective image in an image generated via the imaging element, a detection unit for detecting correlation with the pixel in the vicinity for each of the defective pixels, and an estimation unit for estimating a pixel value of each defective pixel according to the detection result obtained by the detection unit. Thus, it is possible to realize an accurate high-quality correction of defective pixels. It should be noted that the image processing system is formed by an imaging device and a computer containing an image processing program. The imaging device has the imaging element, the acquisition unit, and the creation unit. The image processing program may function the computer as the detection unit and the estimation unit.
