abstract The present invention relates to methods of characterizing and modifying bone quality and pathogenesis in patients suffering from bone pathologies, including those associated with metabolix disorders such as Type 2 diabetes. These methods may involve increasing bone density and/or thickness, as necessary in the patient, and reducing bone tissue degradation as, for instance, due to type 2 diabetes. The methods of the present invention may applied to cortical and/or cancellous bone.
