abstract |
Disclosed is an electrolyte membrane for use in a solid polymer-type fuel cell, which can generate an electric power at high energy efficiency, shows a high electricity-generating property irrespective of dew point of a feed gas, and can generate a electric power stably for a prolonged period of time. An electrolyte membrane which comprises a cation exchange membrane comprising a fluorinated polymer having cation exchange groups and has an ion exchange capacity of 1.0 to 2.5 miliequivalents/g dry resin, some of the cation exchange groups being exchanged by at least one ion selected from the group consisting of a cerium ion and a manganese ion. The membrane can be used as an electrolyte membrane in a solid polymer-type fuel cell. |
