Disclosed herein is a method for manufacturing titanium carbide powders using a rotary kiln type furnace. The method comprises producing titanium dihydride powders by grinding titanium dihydride (TiH2) to have an average particle size of 1 micron or less, loading the titanium dihydride powders in the rotary kiln type furnace, and supplying a hydrocarbon-based gas into the rotary kiln type furnace so as to react with the titanium dihydride powders, thereby forming the titanium carbide powders. With this method, it is possible to produce ultra fine and highly ' pure titanium carbide powders having a particle size of 50 ~ 1,000 nanĪ±neters continuously with a uniform quality. In addition, it is possible to produce TiCN having various compositions as well as pure TiC and TiN by adjusting' components of the gas supplied into the furnace. |
