abstract | Disclosed are a substrate for electronic devices having excellent carrier transporting ability, a method for manufacturing such a substrate for electronic devices, an electronic device comprising such a substrate for electronic devices and having excellent characteristics, and a highly reliable electronic instrument. Specifically disclosed is a substrate for electronic devices comprising a light-emitting layer (an organic semiconductor layer), a cathode (an inorganic material layer), and an intermediate layer arranged between the light-emitting layer and the cathode in contact with both of them. The intermediate layer is mainly composed of a compound (1) represented by the following general formula: R-X-O-M, and the compound (1) is oriented in the thickness direction of the intermediate layer with a hydrocarbon group R being on the light-emitting layer side and an atom M being on the cathode side. (In the above general formula, R represents a hydrocarbon group; X represents a single bond or a bonding group selected from a carbonyl group and a sulfonyl group; and M represents a hydrogen atom or a metal atom.) |
