titleOfInvention Wavelenght shifting compositions
abstract Phosphors for use with high energy blue LEDs and methods for making same are presented. Such phosphors well suited for the specific task of forming a 'white' or broadband spectral output from a high brightness blue LED via wavelength shifting. These phosphors have been specifically prepared and designed with a view toward use with gallium nitride LED semiconductors. They are 'tuned' such that they efficiently respond to blue light. This results in improvement of the system quantum efficiency. In best versions of these phosphors, the most expensive components of phosphor compositions typical in the art have been left out. The phosphors presented have been devised and arranged to operate fully without need far expensive chemicals found hi prior systems. As such, they are less expensive to produce and are thus more suitable for applications such as general lighting applications.
