Method for producing optically anisotropic material |
abstract |
Provided is a method for producing an optically anisotropic material, wherein an optically anisotropic liquid crystal layer is formed on a substrate with good adhesiveness and with no unevenness in orientation. The optically anisotropic material comprises a substrate and an optically anisotropic liquid crystal layer formed on the substrate. The surface of the substrate is subjected to a rubbing process, the resultant rubbed surface is treated with a hydrolysate of an alkoxysilane compound, the treated surface is coated with a polymerizable nematic liquid crystal composition, and the polymerizable liquid crystal composition coated on the surface is subjected to a molecular aligning treatment and then cured while keeping the aligned state of the liquid crystal composition, thereby forming an optically anisotropic liquid crystal layer on the substrate. |
