The invention relates in part to methods and compositions for immunizing against Chlamydia trachomatis infections. These methods and compositions involve, in part, the administration of an immunogenic composition containing one or more peptides derived from the major outer membrane protein (MOMP) of C. trachomatis to a subject to be immunized. In some embodiments, the composition contains a chimeric immunogen comprising a receptor binding domain, a translocation domain, and a Chlamydia trachomatis antigen. The invention also relates to polynucleotides encoding chimeric immunogens, expression vectors comprising these polynucleotides, and kits containing these compositions. |
