Food product and system and method of making food product are provided in which the product includes a hydrated plurality of grain or seed based constituents. In a preferred embodiment the product can be prepared by selecting one or more grain or seed based constituents (20, 30, 40, 50), hydrating to a desired softness (70, 80), then packaging and freezing (100). Optionally the following steps are performed: forming steamed or pre-cooked mixture (65); adding water (70); cooking or hydrating (80), forming freeze-dried or dehydrated product (90); pre- hydrating under reduced-pressure conditions. |
