abstract |
Provided herein is a method of protecting a neuron from dysfunction induced by an HIV neurotoxin, comprising contacting the cell with a therapeutically effective dose of a dopamine Dl receptor agonist. Also provided is a method of treating or preventing HIV-I associated dementia (HAD) in a subject in need of such treatment or prevention, comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective dose of a dopamine Dl receptor agonist and estrogenic compound. |
