abstract The present invention relates to biotechnology, and more particularly to methods for analyzing hormone profiles in plants. A method for labeling a plant hormone includes admixing plant cells in a liquid culture with a labeled metabolite and incubating the plant cells in the presence of the labeled metabolite. A labeled plant hormone is isolated from the plant cells. Methods for synthesizing labeled metabolites are disclosed. A method for profiling a hormone level in a plant is also disclosed and includes placing a labeled plant hormone in contact with a tissue of the plant, extracting the tissue from the plant, and measuring a hormone level in the tissue of the plant.
