abstract This invention provides a process for producing an ink composition for offset printing, which can significantly improve the productivity, and an offset printing ink composition produced by the production process. The production process is characterized by comprising the steps of wetting 300 parts by mass of neutral carbon black with 30 to 900 parts by mass of a wetting agent containing at least water, flushing the wetted neutral carbon black with varnish, for oil-based printing ink, containing at least one of four components, i.e., gilsonite, aliphatic hydrocarbon resins extracted from gilsonite and having a softening point of 120 to 125ÂșC, and heavy oils, and then removing the wetting agent.
