| abstract | The medical information system allows users to store pertinent medical information in a web-enabled data store that can be accessed from anywhere in the world using a web browser, provided the user's unique account number is ascertained and entered. The system allows the user to print a medical card containing the account number. Any suitable printer connected to the user's computers may serve this purpose. All data are maintained in an encrypted format and the system is further secured by separating the person s medical history from his or her personal information, such as name, address and credit card information. The medical information and personal information are stored in separate data stores, administered by separate systems, to significantly reduce the chances of a person's medical history being inadvertently disclosed to an unauthorized third party. |
