abstract It is intended to provide a feed composition which shows a high antibacterial effect on harmful bacteria such as salmonella but a low antibacterial effect on lactic acid bacteria useful for the healthy growth of animals and by which animals can be normally bred, and a method of breeding an animal by using the same. A feed composition characterized by containing silver-holding zeolite; and a method of breeding an animal characterized in that, in the case of using silver zeolite with a silver content of 2.5% by mass, a feed composition containing from 0.001 to 0.2% by mass of the silver zeolite is given in the early stage of the animal breeding (period A), a feed composition containing not more than 0.001% by mass of the silver zeolite is given in the medium stage of the breeding (period B), and then a feed composition containing from 0.01 to 0.2% by mass of the silver zeolite is given immediately before the shipment (period C).
