abstract | A toner which is prepared, in an aqueous medium, by a method comprising dispersing second resin particles in a core particle dispersion having first resin particles and attaching the second resin particles in a molten state to core particles, wherein a second resin particle dispersion having the above second resin particles is added in the state it is so adjusted as to have a pH of HS + 2 to HS -5, when the pH value of the above core particle dispersion having first resin particles is HS, and wherein, by the above adjustment of pH, the toner has a volume average particle diameter of 3 to 7 μm, a content of the toner particles having a particle diameter of 2.52 to 4 μm of 10 to 75 number %, the content of the toner particles having a particle diameter of 4 to 6.06 μm of 25 to 75 vol %, and the content of the toner particles having a particle diameter of 8 μm or more of 5 vol % or less. The present invention allows the preparation of a toner having a sharp particle size distribution and a small particle diameter, without the need for a classification step, the preparation of a toner having a long life, and the preparation of a toner or a two-component developing agent being free from the occurrence of voids and from scattering in the step of transferring. |
