Optical film and method for producing same, and image display employing such optical film |
abstract |
Disclosed is an optical film contributive to thinning in which leakage of light can be prevented well when black is displayed while preventing thermal unevenness. Also disclosed is an image display employing such an optical film. The optical film comprises a polarizer, a first optical compensation layer having refractive index characteristics of nx>ny=nz, and a second optical compensation layer having refractive index characteristics of nx>ny>nz sequentially formed in this order. The angle between the absorption axis of the polarizer and the phase lag axis of the first optical compensation layer is in the range of +17° to +27° or -17° to -27°, the angle between the absorption axis of the polarizer and the phase lag axis of the second optical compensation layer is in the range of +85° to +95°, and the Nz coefficient of the second optical compensation layer is 1.2≤Nz≤2. |
