abstract The invention concerns the use of phenanthrene derivatives of formula (I), wherein R1 and R2 represent a hydroxyl or methoxy radical; R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl radical optionally protected by a suitable protecting group; R4 represents a hydrogen atom or a methoxy radical, for making a medicine for inhibiting inflammatory reactions. The invention also concerns a method for dermo-cosmetic skin treatment which consists in applying on the skin a composition comprising at least one phenanthrene derivative of formula (I). Finally, the invention concerns a method for synthesis of said phenanthrenes of formula (I) as well as the intermediate products.
