abstract A fused silica micropipette having a complex shape, and method of manufacture, are disclosed. The fused silica micropipette may be used for microinjection applications, such as assisted conception, wherein the micropipette penetrates a cell membrane prior to injection. A high temperature, laser powered microforge capable of working with fused silica to make the complex structures of the micropipette of the present invention is also disclosed.
