A novel cyclic compound, which is isolated from novel Streptomyces sp. Q34752 strain and Q47152 strain, shows an excellent antibacterial activity against bacteria of the genus Propionibacterium, in particular, Propionibacterium acnes and so on. Thus, it is useful as an antibacterial agent for treating acne vulgaris. Moreover, the above compound has a favorable antiinflammatory activity and, therefore, is useful in preventing or treating various inflammatory diseases. The novel strains producing this compound and a method of producing this compound by using these strains are also provided. |
