abstract The invention concerns an aqueous composition comprising: 1 to 10 g/l of a water-soluble salt of heptanoic acid, 1 to 10 g/l of an oxidizing agent, 50 to 800 g/l of at least one C<SUB>6</SUB>-C<SUB>18</SUB> fatty acid triglyceride and/or at least one ester derived from condensation of at least one C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>10</SUB> aliphatic alcohol including 1 to 4 hydroxy functions, with at least one mono-, di- or tri- C<SUB>8</SUB>-C<SUB>22</SUB> fatty acid, and the use of said aqueous composition for treating the surface of a steel strip to lubricate and protect same against corrosion.
