abstract The invention relates to a membrane for the filtration of molecular gases, such as hydrogen, consisting of a ceramic porous support which essentially comprises magnesium aluminium spinel, said support being impregnated with a silica-based xerogel layer. The invention also relates to a method of preparing one such membrane. The invention further relates to the use of a support that essentially comprises magnesium aluminium spinel in a hydrogen filtration membrane.
