abstract Examples and variations of methods and apparatus for using 3D digital models for treatment planning or other visualization applications are disclosed. In one aspect, two-dimensional images are utilized in the course of or as an aid to dental or other medical treatment. In one variation, methods and apparatus are disclosed for using photographic images to generate three dimensional (3D) digital models that may be used, for example, for dental or medical treatments. In another aspect, methods and apparatus are disclosed for tracking tooth or tooth model movements during a dental treatment. In yet another aspect, methods and apparatus are disclosed for generating 3D digital models and/or images of predicted final or intermediate results of dental or other medical treatments.
