Azo dye, composition containing the same for anisotropic dye film, anisotropic dye film, and polorizing element |
abstract |
A dye capable of forming an anisotropic dye film having high dichroism and a high degree of molecular orientation. Also provided is an anisotropic dye film comprising the dye. The dye is a trisazo dye which in its free acid form is represented by the following general formula (1), wherein at least either of B1 and D1 has at least on substituent Q1 shown below. Furthermore provided is a polarizing element comprising the anisotropic dye film. Q1: an alkyl or alkoxy group substituted by a group capable of hydrogen bonding (1) (In the formula (1), A1 is phenyl or naphthyl; B1 and D1 each is phenylene or naphthylene; X1 is optionally substituted amino or hydroxy; and m is 0 or 1.) |
