Method and device for making polymer foam beads or balloons |
abstract |
The invention concerns a method and a device for making polymer foam beads or balloons. Said method comprises the following steps: a) forming liquid beads with an organic phase, or liquid balloons by encapsulating an aqueous phase W1 in an organic phase; b) suspending the beads and the balloons in an aqueous phase W2; c) subjecting the thus formed emulsion to a temperature ? which is not less than the temperature at which said primer has a decomposition half-life of 5 to 15 minutes, but less than the degradation temperature of the organic phase, for the time required for gelling said phase; and d) completing the solidification of the organic phase. The invention is useful for making microballoons for producing targets for the study of inertial confinement fusion, matrices designed for solid-phase syntheses, for specifically immobilizing protein-type biological elements, or for running high rate biological tests. |
