Process for producing crosslinked molded foam |
abstract |
A process for producing a crosslinked molded foam which comprises: (1) a preceding step in which a thermoplastic elastomer composition which is a material for crosslinking foaming is introduced in a given amount into a first cavity space in a mold; (2) a first step in which the thermoplastic elastomer composition is foam-molded in the first cavity space with heating and pressurizing to obtain a perform and form a skin layer on the periphery of the perform; and (3) a second step in which the perform is crosslinked and foamed with heating and pressurizing in a second cavity space which is inside the same mold and is larger than the first cavity space. By the process, sponges having the same shape as the mold can be obtained. The sponges molded hence have evenness of size, excellent thickness precision, and a moderate density and hardness. They have excellent suitability for mold design transfer. The molded articles do not necessitate additional cutting. Due to this, the production steps are simple and excellent profitability is attained because of no loss. The process can conform to various designs to give a highly functional molded foam such as a shoe sole. |
