abstract |
Methods of preventing or treating cancer and of inhibiting proliferation of cancerous cells are disclosed herein. These methods comprise administering to an animal a bacteriocin derived from a lactic acid bacteria and/or a composition comprising a bacteriocin derived from a lactic acid bacteria and a carrier. In an embodiment, the bacteriocin may be cytotoxic to the cancerous cells. Also described herein are corresponding uses of these bacteriocins and compositions as well as packages comprising these bacteriocins and compositions. |
