titleOfInvention Therapeutic agent for interstitial cystitis
abstract A therapeutic agent for interstitial cystitis, characterized by containing a phenoxyacetic acid derivative represented by the following general formula (I): [Chemical formula 1] (I) (wherein R1 represents hydroxy or lower alkoxy) or a pharmacologically acceptable salt of the derivative. The phenoxyacetic acid derivative represented by the general formula (I) or pharmacologically acceptable salt or a hydrate or solvate thereof each functions to selectively stimulate a β3-adrenergic receptor and has remarkable inhibitory activity against a capsaicin-sensitive sensory nerve. They can hence be used as a preventive or therapeutic agent for interstitial cystitis and overactive bladder accompanied by a pain, other diseases in which a capsaicin-sensitive sensory nerve participates (e.g., acute or chronic, systemic or local pains or inflammation), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), etc.
