titleOfInvention Implant monitoring system
abstract An implant monitoring system for in vivo monitoring of mechanical loading on an implant placed in a patient. At least one sensor unit which is arranged to be operatively connected to the implant. A measuring unit receives an output signal from said sensor unit. A transmitter means is transmitting information to the patient regarding the mechanical loading on the implant. Processing means forming built-in intelligence in the system is arranged to activate said transmitter means without the need of any external input to the system. Also disclosed is a dental implant monitoring system, comprising' at least one sensor arranged to be operatively connected to the implant; and a body actuator which is arranged to transmit, by means of a vibration and/or electrical stimulation signal, information to the patient regarding a mechanical loading detected by the sensor.
