abstract Disclosed is a negative electrode for batteries which comprises a collector, an active material layer and an inorganic compound layer. The active material layer is formed on the collector, and the inorganic compound layer is formed on the surface of the active material layer. The general formula of the inorganic compound layer is expressed as LixPTyOz or LixMOyNz. The compound constituting the inorganic compound layer has lithium ion conductivity and excellent moisture resistance.
