titleOfInvention Blood sampling kit and method of using same
abstract Kits and methods for closed-system blood sampling in patients are disclosed. The kit includes a multi-port assembly (110) having at least four ports (111,113,115,117) adapted to allow communicaiton at least between two ports. The multi-port assembly (110) has a first port (I 11) adapted to receive a syringe (130), a second port (113) for communicating with an infusion solution reservoir (150), and a fourth port (117) for communication with a patient. The kit also includes at least one sampling site (120) adapted to fluidically communicate with the fourth port (117) and to be positioned between the multi-port assembly (110) and the patient. At least one of the sampling sites (120) is adapted to allow extraction of a fluid being communicated between the multi-port assembly (110)and the patient.
