abstract This invention relates to certain iron complexes which comprise ferrous or ferric iron and mono-, bi-, tri- or hexadentate ligands containing a five- or six-membered aromatic or heterocyclic ring for use in the treatment and/or prevention of nutritional disorders and compositions containing such iron complexes. The iron complexes enhance the bioavailability of the iron and are particularly useful in the treatment and/or prevention of nutritional disorders, iron deficiency disorders and anaemia.
