A composite article (12) and method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, a polyurethane-polyurea layer (16) is disposed on a substrate (14). The polyurethane-polyurea layer includes a reaction product of an isocyanate component having from about 10% to about 90% of a toluene diisocyanate, by weight of the isocyanate component, and an isocyanate-reactive component having amine-terminated and/or hydroxyl-terminated compounds. The polyurethane-polyurea layer (16) provides blast and fragment protection form explosive devices (20) as well as ballistic mitigation from projectiles (166). |
