abstract | Formulations of azole antifungals such as itraconazole and particularly formulations, coformulations and compositions of itraconazole with one or more oligomeric and/or polymeric excipients are disclosed. Methods for preparation of the formulations, co-formulations and compositions include co-precipitating the two materials from a common solvent or solvent mixture using a compressed (typically supercritical or near-critical) fluid anti-solvent as in the GAS (Gas Anti-Solvent) precipitation method. The formulations, co-formulations, compositions, methods of making and methods of delivering, are useful as pharmaceutical compositions and in medical treatment by virtue of their at least parity, preferably improved or enhanced solubility or dissolution characteristics, resulting in at least parity, preferably improved or enhanced bioavailability and/or pharmacokinetics. |
