titleOfInvention Two stage hemofiltration that generates replacement fluid
abstract The present invention relates to a system for two-stage blood dialysis of a patient. In one embodiment, the system comprises a first filtration device (210) for receiving the blood (255) from the patient (200) and for producing a first filtrate (285) and processed blood (265). The system further comprises a second filtration device (220) for receiving the first filtrate (285) and producing replacement fluid (275) and waste product. At least one of the first and second filtration devices preferably comprises a Taylor vortex-enhanced blood filtration device (10).
