abstract Disclosed is an adhesive composition for polarizing plates which has excellent optical characteristics and durability and enables to alleviate stress in a polarizing plate or the like caused by dimensional change while suppressing light leakage and color unevenness. Also disclosed is a polarizing plate having an adhesive layer composed of such an adhesive composition. Specifically disclosed is an adhesive composition for polarizing plates which is characterized by containing 0.01-0.3 parts by weight of a crosslinking agent (B) and 0.01-0.5 parts by weight of a silane coupling agent (C) per 100 parts by weight of an acrylic copolymer (A) which contains 10-79.9% by weight of a (meth)acrylate (a1), 20-80% by weight of a benzene ring-containing compound (a2) and 0.1-10% by weight of a functional group-containing compound (a3) as a monomer component, and has a weight average molecular weight of 800,000-2,000,000.
