A process for producing 5-difluoromethoxy-4-thiomethyl- pyrazoles easily in high yield, namely, a process for the production of 5-difluoromethoxy-4-thiomethylpyrazoles represented by the general formula (3): [wherein R1 is alkyl or the like; R2 is an electron-attracting group; R3 is alkyl or the like; and n is 0 or 2], characterized by reacting a 5-hydroxy-4-thiomethylpyrazole represented by the general formula (1): [wherein R1, R2, R3 and n are each as defined above] with a difluoromethyl halide represented by the general formula (2): CHF2X [wherein X is halogeno] in the presence of either a dialkyl ketone or an alkyl nitrile, and sodium hydroxide. According to the process, the objective compounds can be produced by simple and easy operation. Further, the process little suffers from decomposition of raw materials or products and brings about remarkable reduction in reaction time, thus having high industrial usefulness. |
