abstract | With respect to strontium aluminate light storing materials, there is a demand for enhancement of afterglow characteristics, improvement to handling, etc. in order to realize expanded application and development. In particular, there is a demand for improvement to afterglow luminance and afterglow duration, easy pulverizability, etc. There is provided a strontium aluminate light storing material comprising europium as an activator and dysprosium and/or neodymium as a coactivator, characterized in that nitrogen is contained in an amount of at least 0.050 wt.% based on the composition of the material. Further, there is provided a strontium aluminate light storing material characterized in that the matrix crystal thereof has a stuffed tridymite structure represented by the formula SrAl2O4 whose (-211) plane spacing is in the range of 0.3120 to 0.3140 nm. |
