| abstract | The invention includes a method of manufacturing and application of foodstuffs such as straw pills for animals such as pigs. In relation to the manufacturing of the foodstuffs the bacteria content is reduced by e.g. heating and the foodstuffs are used for behaviour-stimulation in connection with the feeding of animals. The invention moreover relates foodstuffs with a controllable low bacteriological content for both feeding and stimulating the behaviour of animals. As an example of foodstuffs, which are included in the invention, straw pills for e.g. pigs can be mentioned, where the bacteriological content in the straw pills are reduced to an acceptable level by heating up the straw either before, during or after the shaping to straw pills. The invention moreover includes both nutritional improvement and an increased behaviour-stimulating effect of foodstuffs used for animal feed by adding components of foodstuff, which the animals finds especially tasty. Of such foodstuffs, bacteria reduced straw pills for pigs can e.g. be mentioned, where the straw pills are enriched with peas. |
