abstract The invention relates to an electrochemical cell, at least comprising an anodic partial cell (1) with an anode (6), a cathodic partial cell (22) with a cathode (4) and an ion-exchange membrane (3), arranged between the anodic partial cell (1) and the cathodic partial cell (22), whereby the anode (6) and/or the cathode (4) is a gas diffusion electrode, a gap (11) is arranged between the gas diffusion electrode (4) and the ion exchange membrane (3) with an electrolyte inlet (10) above the gap (11) and an electrolyte outlet (20) below the gap (11) with a gas inlet (18) and gas outlet (9), characterised in that the electrolyte inlet (10) is connected to an electrolyte receiver tank (7) and has an overflow.
