The invention provides a human PAK3 which is associated with cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, (e.g. lung COPD), dermatological diseases, endocrinological diseases, metabolic diseases, cancer (e.g. thyroid, lung, ovary, breast or prostate tumor), inflammation (e.g. liver cirrhosis), gastroenterological diseases, hematological diseases, neurological diseases (e.g. Alzheimer) and urological diseases. The invention also provides assays for the identification of compounds useful in the treatment or prevention of cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, dermatological diseases, endocrinological diseases, metabolic diseases, cancer, inflammation, gastroenterological diseases, hematological diseases, neurological diseases and urological diseases. The invention also features compounds which bind to and/or activate or inhibit the activity of PAK3 as well as pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds. |
