abstract | A polycyclic compound; and a technique by which a compound having a quaternary asymmetric carbon atom in an internuclear position can be stereoselectively synthesized. The polycyclic compound is a polycyclic ketone compound represented by the following general formula (I): wherein R1 represents hydrogen, hydroxy, halogeno, optionally substituted silyloxy, etc.; R2's may be the same or different and each independently represents halogeno, hydroxy, cyano, nitro, optionally substituted amino, etc.; R3's may be the same or different and each independently represents halogeno, hydroxy, optionally substituted C1-10 alkoxycarbonyl, etc.; R4 represents hydrogen, halogeno, cyano, nitro, etc.; m is an integer of 0-3; and n is an integer of 0-6. Also provided is a process for producing the polycyclic ketone compound. |
