abstract With respect to, made of a copper alloy, such as bronze or brass, having undergone, for example, nickel-containing plating, a city water valve, water or hot water supply valve, pipe joint, strainer, faucet metal fitting, pump supply item, water meter, water cleaner, water or hot water supplier and other liquid-contact equipment items, for prevention of nickel leaching even when brought into contact with fluid such as city water, there are provided a method of preventing nickel leaching from copper alloy made liquid-contact equipment items, protective film forming agent for nickel leaching prevention and cleaner for nickel leaching prevention. In particular, there is provided a method of preventing nickel leaching from copper alloy made liquid-contact equipment items, comprising applying a protective film forming agent containing at least one member selected from among benzotriazole, benzotriazole derivatives and organic acids such as linear chain fatty acids to at least a liquid-contact surface of copper alloy made liquid-contact equipment items to thereby form a protective film by which nickel leaching is suppressed.
