abstract The invention relates to a continually variable transmission ratio, whereby the transmission contains five shafts (i.e. input, core input, core output, intermediate and output) and comprises a long module, a short module and an inverter which is connected between the intermediate and the output. The long module comprises a core and four transmission ratio multiplicities, which extend the variability range of the core. Moreover, the core contains two differentials, and the core input shaft drives one shaft of each differential, the core output shaft is driven by another shaft of each differential and the third shaft of each differential is connected to the variator. In addition, the short module contains two differentials, and the input shaft drives one shaft of one of said differentials and the intermediate shaft is driven by another shaft of the other differential. Two transmission ratio multiplicities are provided between the shafts which are connected to neither the input nor the output, and the variator is connected between a shaft of the first and a shaft of the second.
