abstract |
A biaxially oriented polyester film of 8 to 15 cm-1 microscopic Raman crystallization index (Ic) as measured in the direction of film thickness wherein the difference between Ic maximum and Ic minimum is 1 cm-1 or less. There is further provided a biaxially oriented polyester film of -25 to 0 dB relative power (I10TD) of space frequency 1/mm as measured along the width of at least one surface of polyester film having undergone heat treatment at 100°C for 24 hr. These biaxially oriented polyester films excel in microplanarity even after high-temperature storage or heat loading during processing. These biaxially oriented polyester films are useful as polyester films for use in a magnetic recording material, an electronic material, a plate making film, a sublimatic ribbon and a packaging material. In particular, these biaxially oriented polyester films are highly useful when employed as a base film for high-density magnetic recording medium, especially double layer metal coated digital recording medium according to linear recording system. |
