abstract The invention concerns a method for making a seal on a varnished metal support, in particular coated with a epoxyphenolic resin layer, comprising the following steps: (1) providing a preparation comprising: (A) at least one silicone composition crosslinkable into a silicone elastomer (resin and silicone oil); (B) at least one adherence promoter; (C) optionally at least one pore-forming agent; (2) depositing a bead of said preparation on the varnished metal support, and (3) crosslinking the preparation and, optionally developing porosity within the bead. The invention also concerns a metal lid provided with a seal resulting from the method, as well as a silicone preparation and its use for making a foamed seal. The invention provides the solution to the problem of adherence and sealing of a silicone pressure seal for a twist-off metal lid by using a preparation which, moreover, is provided with good food grade.
