abstract Method for reducing the carbon dioxide content in a dead volume in an apparatus designed to be connected to the respiratory system of a patient is described. The method contains the steps that, by means of a flow generator (14), a flow of gas is generated from an outlet (16) associated with the dead volume, lead the gas through a carbon dioxide absorber (20), and replace the gas which passed the absorber (20) to an inlet (24) associated with the dead volume. A device (2) is also described.
