The invention relates to a symbiotic mutant of pea (Pisum sativum L.) of the cultivar `Bohatyr` that does not form symbiosis with soil microorganisms. The invention further relates to the propagation material of the mutant such as the seeds, pollen, ovules, tissue and cell cultures, individual cells, the whole plant or its parts, as well as to the genetic material such as DNA, RNA, their fragments and the vectors harbouring them. The method of producing the symbiotic mutant lying, according to the present invention, in the mutagenesis of the cultivar `Bohatyr' that generates the mutants forming defective root nodules and in the subsequent identification of a mutant with the desired properties. The invention also relates to the use of the mutant as a reference line for assessing the symbiotic nitrogen fixation in the pea cultivar `Bohatyr' and its use as a source of genetic material. |
