The invention relates to a method for extracting nitrocresols from the waste water produced in the manufacture of mononitrotoluene. Said method is characterised in that the alkaline waste water produced in the manufacture of mononitrotoluene is acidified using acids with a maximum pH value of 3 and the nitrocresols are treated with an extracting agent. The invention also relates to the production of dinitrotoluene using the extract containing nitrocresols as a feedstock. |
