abstract |
A process in which an aliphatic polyester having improved water resistance is obtained using water positively as an initiator and/or molecular weight modifier. In the process, a cyclic ester containing as an initiator and/or molecular weight modifier a proton source compound containing water in an amount larger than 80 ppm is subjected to ring-opening polymerization using the total proton concentration in the cyclic ester as an index and a carboxy-blocking agent is incorporated into the resultant aliphatic polyester to thereby produce an aliphatic polyester. |
